Art Arribada is back! Right in the heart of sea turtle nesting season, The Gardens Mall and PNC Bank have partnered with LMC for the second year to support us with a lineup of events to raise funds for the center and our important environmental programs. “Art Arribada” will be returning to The Gardens Mall from Monday, August 19 to Monday, September 2, so make sure to mark your calendar!

Art Arribada – Giant Sea Turtle Sculptures on Display
August 19-September 2
Visitors to The Gardens Mall will see exquisitely painted fiberglass sea turtle sculptures on display in the Grand Court, each created by students from participating high schools in Palm Beach County. The public is invited to view the sculptures during normal mall hours and vote for their favorite until August 28.

Who Are the Participants?
Teams of talented high school students were given a specified time frame to transform unpainted fiberglass sea turtle sculptures (36″ high x 30″ long x 18″ deep) into works of art. Seven local schools are participating.

How Do You Vote?
An “arribada” is a large aggregation of sea turtles coming ashore together to nest at the same time and the same place. Guests can view the sculptures and vote on their favorite turtle beginning August 19 through August 28.

Prizes
The top 3 schools with the most votes will be awarded cash prizes for their art departments. A Best in Show award chosen by special judges will be given as well. The winners will be announced on August 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at an Art Arribada reception and auction. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at marinelife.org/turtles.
•    1st Place −  $1,500
•    2nd Place − $1,000
•    3rd Place −  $500

Marinelife Day at The Gardens Mall
August 24
On Saturday, August 24, LMC will feature a kid-friendly, science-oriented Marinelife Day at The Gardens Mall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be presentations on turtles and marine life that are both fun and educational. Different interactive stations will be set up based on research, rehabilitation, education, and conservation themes. Socializing and photos with the lovable LMC mascot Fletch, along with prizes and giveaways, will take place during this free, family-friendly event.

Cocktail Party and Auction
August 29
On the evening of August 29, The Gardens Mall will host a private cocktail party in the Grand Court from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each turtle sculpture will be auctioned off during the event, with all proceeds benefiting Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Tickets to the reserved event are $35 each and may be purchased at marinelife.org/turtles, or by calling Deborah Jaffe of LMC at 561.627.8280, ext. 102. Before the turtle sculptures reach their final nesting place with each winning bidder, they will remain on display in the Grand Court until September 2.
