5 Reasons to Sail the Mighty Seas at Lights Out 2017

lynne-wells-and-jack-lighton-lights-out-2-minAvast, ye mateys! What brings ye here to this blog post? Was it the enthralling title, beckonin’ ye to sail the seven seas? Or was it the magical mystery of Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s 10th Annual Lights Out Gala: Swashbuckler’s Soirée, set to sail on Jan. 27? The Lights Out Gala, held ev’ry year, celebrates the start o’ sea turtle nesting season in Palm Beach County. The gala raises critical funds for LMC’s mission of ocean and sea turtle conservation and preserves the Center’s free admission status. So, whatever brought ye here t’day, we encourage ye to read on for our top five reasons to join us for Palm Beach’s most charming gala!

1. Dressing up like a pirate
Last year, we did something a little different – a festive pirate theme. Many guests loved dressing up like buccaneers. Still, others chose a classic evening look. Just know that whichever look you choose, ye are welcome at the gala! However, we certainly encourage fun swashbuckler costumes. In fact, many guests who didn’t dress up last year told us they would return in 2017 with dazzling attire.

2. Meeting mysterious creatures
Do you love mermaids, pirates and sea turtles? Well, so do we! At the Swashbuckler Soirée, participants will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with sparkling sirens, playful pirates and our adorable sea turtle patients in our outdoor hospital. Really… what more could you possibly ask for?

3. Dance and music
Guests know they can dance the night away under the stars at Lights Out every year. However, this year will bring something new to the table – one of Palm Beach’s most in-demand live music performers, who will fill the dance floor with frenzied pirates, mermaids and songs of the seven seas.

4. Great food, great company, great cause
At the Swashbuckler’s Soirée, guests will enjoy a lavish cocktail hour on the Center’s sea turtle hospital terrace, hearty libations, a gourmet plated dinner and mingle and other local notable ocean-lovers. Guests will also have the chance to participate in an exclusive silent auction featuring some of the most luxurious treasure found across the seas. Best of all, Lights Out is LMC’s premiere fundraising event, helping support LMC’s mission of ocean and sea turtle conservation. That means guests can have fun and feel good about attending!

5. A big surprise
We wish we could tell you more. We really do. But that would spoil the big surprise. What big surprise? Don’t worry… We plan to share it at Lights Out this year – and who doesn’t like a little mystique?
