It’s no secret that sea turtles steal the show in South Florida. During nesting season, Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s popular summer beach programs will once again give local or out-of-town guests the unique, unforgettable experience of seeing sea turtles up close, including Turtle Walks, Hatchling Releases and Biologist Beach Walks.
Turtle Walks – Guests can safely observe sea turtles’ nesting process through an interactive, informative presentation, a behind-the-gates tour of the Center and the opportunity to witness the unique experience of a loggerhead sea turtle laying her eggs on the beach.
- When: Wednesday-Saturday evenings in June and July
- Cost: $18/person; $15/person for LMC members
Hatchling Releases – Guests can learn about sea turtles’ hatching process, including an exclusive tour to meet LMC’s sea turtle patients, an interactive presentation on South Florida’s sea turtles and a trip to the beach to watch LMC staff release sea turtle hatchlings into their ocean home.
- When: Every evening in August
- Cost: $18/person; $15/person for LMC members
Biologist Beach Walks – Guests can gain an in-depth look at LMC’s research department and the sea turtle nesting survey process, including the chance to witness a live nest excavation (with sea turtle eggs and hatchlings.) As they learn about these processes, guests can also create their own take-home data sheet as a memento.
