Mary Jane Saunders, PhD
Mary Jane Saunders, Ph.D. is a retired university administrator and Professor of Biology. She received her Ph.D. from U Mass and then worked at University of Georgia (postdoc), University of South Florida (Associate Professor and Director), Cleveland State University (Professor, Director, Dean of Science and Provost) and Florida Atlantic University (Professor and President). Her area of expertise is cell biology, nanostructures and microscopy, for which she was continually funded from national scientific agencies. At FAU she oversaw 30,000 students, 5,000 employees, a $650M annual budget, five campuses and $350M in new construction. Under her watch, FAU receive a perfect accreditation score which included the formation of the award-winning undergraduate research program.
