Ocean Scholars Internship
Generously supported by the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation.
Are you passionate about the ocean?
Want to learn more about marine science and work with researchers and educators doing important work in conservation?
Are you seeking a paid career-building summer internship with a world-class science institution right here in Palm Beach County?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s (LMC) new Ocean Scholars Program may be for you. This 10-week paid summer internship is designed for youth ages 15 to 18 residing in Palm Beach or Martin Counties. Five applicants will be selected to work alongside LMC’s scientists each summer. LMC Ocean Scholars will gain valuable hands-on experience in scientific communication, research, teaching, and ocean conservation.
Ocean Scholars will immerse themselves in the daily operations of LMC’s pillar departments: Hospital, Education, Research, and Conservation. While working with these departments, students will develop skills in scientific communication, get exposed to various forms of research, and gain insight into a career in marine science. Scholars will especially work closely with the Education team by working with our weekly Junior Marine Biologist summer camp, building their skills in public speaking and interpreting marine topics to others. In addition to their hands-on work, interns will network with professionals in the marine science field, boosting their resumes and social capital for future academic and career opportunities.
