Interactive Summer Experiences Return

This summer, explore marine life and immersive sea turtle experiences at Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC). The Center is offering a variety of fun, interactive programs from June to September during the peak of sea turtle nesting season. Registration is now open to book online.

Check out the following summer eco experiences happening at the Center:

Guided Turtle Walks – This unique program offers a rare chance to observe a loggerhead sea turtle as she nests and lays her eggs. Guests will gain insight into the nesting process while witnessing this remarkable event firsthand. (Available Tuesday-Saturday in June and July, from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.; age 10 and older; $40 per person.)

Public Evening Guided Tours – Enjoy an after-hours tour led by one of the Center’s expert guides. Guests will be guided through our outdoor sea turtle hospital to meet our current patients, while learning about nesting sea turtles across our local beaches. (Available Tuesday-Saturday in June and July, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; age 10 and older; $25 per person.)

Hatchling Discovery Program –See a nest inventory in action! The Hatchling Discovery Program begins with a brief beach walk and ecology introduction to educate guests on identifying sea turtle crawls, nesting, and the hatching process. If a nest is located, guests will get a chance to witness permitted staff inventory the contents of a sea turtle nest and release any healthy hatchlings found along the way. (Available Sunday-Wednesday in August, and Saturday-Sunday in September, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.; age 10 and older; $25 per person.)

Hatchling Release – Get up close to watch LMC staff and volunteers release hatchlings (baby sea turtles) back into the wild. After an informative presentation, LMC staff will lead guests down to the beach to view hatchlings being released into the ocean using night-vision technology for the most authentic experience. (Available Monday-Sunday in August, from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; age 10 and older; $40 per person; participants must be able to walk at least a half-mile on the beach. Beach-mobile transit wheelchairs can be requested but are furnished based on availability.)

Tidal Tots – Keep cool this summer with LMC’s Tidal Tots program! Children can explore marine life through play-based stations, story time, and an exploration walk along the Center’s ecosystem terrace. Enjoy early access to Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s exhibits and take part in exclusive, coastal-themed activities with an LMC educator. (Available Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. from June to August; ages 2 to 5; $5 per child.)
