George Bovenizer held several positions at NL Industries, including laboratory, sales, and sales and marketing management. He is a self-taught wine expert and entered the wine business. Upon retirement, he became interested in philanthropic causes. He was a member of the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation board for eight years and helped the hospital become a world-class regional medical center.

He is a supporter of undergraduates at Lehigh, his alma mater, through a family scholarship fund. Bovenizer is a lead donor to LMC’s capital campaign with a $250,000 gift to expand the Center’s operations and move into the next generation of care for the turtles and the oceans.
