Job Summary
Primary responsibilities include the transportation of guests to/from assigned destinations using a 28-passenger Ford F550 Glaval Entourage company vehicle. All routes are local and within program hours of 9am - 5pm, up to 6 hours per day, Tuesday - Friday. The Operator is required to monitor and comply with daily safety, maintenance and mileage procedures pursuant to Loggerhead MarinelifeCenter (LMC) policies. The Operator prioritizes passenger safety at all times and serves as an important and welcoming facilitator of LMC program transportation.

The Center has grown to become a global leader in the rehabilitation, research, and protection of sea turtles, serving our broader mission to promote ocean ecosystem conservation and train future generations to do the same. Annually we reach 900,000 guests with our transformational STEM education programs and partner with nearly 200 organizations across six continents and 16 countries in ocean conservation. In 2022, we opened our new 27,500 square-foot campus expanding our exhibition, education, convening space, and medical facilities and increasing our regional economic impact.

Essential functions of this position include ability to read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print), visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects), move at a speed required to respond to work situations (e.g., run, walk, jog), stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift, move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds with assistance, move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps, reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills, perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position may involve working outdoors in Florida, often in hot and humid conditions. Must possess a Class A, B or C commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement. Must pass a ‘level 2’ background screening through The Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse provides a single data source administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) for background screening results for persons screened for employment or licensure that provide services to children, the elderly and disabled individuals.
Notes
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. This recruitment may be used to select candidates for additional open positions. It is our policy that all team members, including newly hired, transferred, and promoted team members, will be carefully monitored and evaluated for an initial introductory 3 month period on the job. After satisfactory completion of the introductory evaluation, such team members will be evaluated on an annual basis.
