Our team encountered our first leatherback of the week last night! She was spotted at 3 am on north Juno Beach; her tags revealed that it was Cinderella. This turtle has been seen by our biologists two other times this season. She was first tagged by LMC researchers back in March this year, and was seen nesting again in May. This was probably Cinderella’s 8th nest of the season, based on her nesting history.
With leatherback season winding down, we are hoping for at least a couple more turtles to finish out this week. Which turtle(s) do you think we’ll see? Stay tuned to find out!
