Coral Reef Restoration Itinerary

Day 1

Your tour begins at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, FL with a light lunch and guest check-in. After a brief welcome, we’ll hit the road to Key Largo, home one of the world’s largest coral reef at 160 miles long. Once we arrive, you’ll enjoy a Fish ID course at Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) headquarters before a brief transfer to our hotel. Once you are settled at your Key West-esque accommodations, you’ll enjoy dinner at an iconic Florida Keys restaurant before closing out your first day. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 2

We’ll get an early start this morning and head to the Coral Restoration Foundation education center to be briefed on all things coral conservation. The Coral Health and Restoration workshop includes an introduction to coral anatomy and conditions necessary for a healthy reef, stressors causing current coral decline, and solutions to coral decline. The morning session ends with a hands-on demonstration of restoration techniques before heading out to the coral nursery, where divers will explore and outplant the corals they previously prepared. Enjoy a free night in Key Largo after decompressing with food and drink at a local Key Largo café. All meals included.

Day 3

Your final day begins with a short ecology presentation and further training before your second dive in the nursery. Opt to earn your PADI Restoration Specialist I or II certification for your restoration efforts! If time allows, a brief meet and greet with our most current sea turtle patients back at Loggerhead Marinelife Center will round out your jam-packed weekend before you head home. Breakfast, lunch, and light dinner included.
