Fletch is Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s huggable and loveable mascot. Fletch loves a good high five, or a low five, and is always looking for an opportunity to play and dance with visitors of all ages. So, don’t be shy when Fletch is around! Fletch is a kid at heart, and is always looking for a hug.
When you visit the Center, don’t forget your camera and a smile! Fletch LOVES to have a picture taken with visitors, for that special Kodak moment.

Dr. Logger is an educational ambassador for sea turtles. Through an interactive show, Dr. Logger and “Bob” the sea turtle educate the audience on the life of a sea turtle, by addressing various topics: threats, nesting, anatomy, lifestyle, etc. This show is for guests of all ages, it’s interactive with the audience and fast-paced. No pre-registration is required.

Our Hatchling Tales program is geared towards toddlers with a natural curiosity for marine life and sea turtles. In this free, ocean-inspired program, children will enjoy an ocean-themed story coupled with a themed craft to create and take home. This program is designed to cater to young families in the community by offering a new story and craft each session, encouraging frequent visits and support.

Time: October – May on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
The Children’s Research Station presented by the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. Foundation exercises science skills in children through an experiential lab. Geared at children ages up to 12, the junior veterinary lab accommodates up to 10 children at a time during daily half hour programs, taking participants from sea turtle rescue to release. Junior Veterinary Lab accommodates up to 10 children in a 30 minute program, educating children on the process from sea turtle rescue to release. Jr. Vets come to the aid of a green sea turtle replica and Dr. Logger teaches the group about common injuries and illnesses that affect these endangered animals. Register at desired date on calendar.

The Mommy & Me Paint! program is offered each Thursday morning during the winter season at 10:30 a.m. and designed to introduce basic sea turtle conservation and biology to young children. The program begins with a brief ocean-themed story and includes a hands-on biofact lesson following a painting activity. Participants have an opportunity to take home their painted ceramic turtles and their new sea turtle knowledge.
Cost: $8/painter; $15 sibling discount for two painters
