Unwrap The Waves

Loggerhead Marinelife Center's Unwrap the Wave Initiative allows for students and community members to get into the "spirit" of conservation by collecting their candy wrappers from Halloween and recycling them.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center Nominated for 2012 Bernays Awards

Loggerhead Marinelife Center has been nominated for 2012 Bernays Awards for excellence in marketing and public relations by or on behalf of a nonprofit organization; excellence in marketing and public relations for a special event; and excellence in marketing and public relations for collateral material, the Gold Coast Public Relations Council announced.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center received the nominations for international publicity surrounding one of its sea turtle patients; for TurtleFest 2011; and for it’s Business Management System booklet, respectively. Center volunteer Christina D’Elosua is a finalist in the Community Service category for her involvement with Loggerhead Marinelife Center and other organizations.

Among the 33 nominees announced in various categories were recently retired television anchor Jim Sackett for community service and Mounts Botanical Garden for a gourmet food-truck garden party in the special event category.

The eighth annual awards will be presented at a luncheon Jan. 20 at the Hamlet Country Club in Delray Beach. Toni May of the Quantum Foundation will be the emcee. The awards are put on by the Gold Coast Public Relations Council, an independent group of PR, marketing and communications professionals from Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and Dade counties.

The annual Bernays Awards are named for Edward L. Bernays, the “Father of Public Relations,” and a businessman who played a major role in defining the industry’s philosophy and methods.
