Turtle Cams

Viewers from around the world can now tune into our live web cams to check on the progress of sea turtle patient Annie Beau in our hospital tank (top image). Big thanks to Florida Power & Light Company and the FPL Group Foundation for the donation which made the Turtle Cams a reality.

Annie Beau is a subadult loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found floating and unable to dive near the Jupiter Lighthouse. Radiographs revealed a large amount of air and crab shells throughout the turtle’s intestines. Annie Beau was put into freshwater to remove the barnacles, leeches, and other epibiota that covered its body. Our patient received a first-of-its kind procedure and also received lifesaving medication to remove the blockage.  Annie Beau is now recovering very nicely and will continue to be closely monitored by hospital staff.  The Center would like to thank the Ann Cox Chambers Foundation for their generous support of Annie Beau's rehabilitation.  Additionally the Center thanks IdeaBar (a marketing and media agency) for their tremendous support of our mission.
