Over 100 Palm Beach County scientists, community members and other notables gathered at Loggerhead Marinelife Center for an evening celebrating Dr. Charles Manire’s recently published book, Sea Turtle Health and Rehabilitation.

The book is a breakthrough in field of sea turtle rehabilitation, and for the Center’s recognition as a leading authority in sea turtle rehabilitation, research and education.

The event included beverages and light bites, while LMC President & CEO Jack Lighton, Board Chairman Ray Graziotto and Board Member Jodie Gless shared remarks about the Center’s scientific advancements.

“I’ve been in this field for a while, and what LMC does in science and sea turtle rehabilitation is just amazing – and unique,” said Gless. “I can’t wait to see what happens next for our future.”

Dr. Manire shared similar thoughts.

“I am grateful for the support of everyone here, but this celebration is not about me – it’s about our entire team of staff, volunteers and supporters who are working to protect our planet, and it’s so important,” added Manire. “So, let’s go and get it done.”

The over 1000-page guide, on which Manire is a lead author, details “extensive information for the proper rescue, evaluation, care and rehabilitation of sick and injured sea turtles at every stage of life.” Other authors include Terry M. Norton, Brian A. Stacy, Charles J. Innis and Craig A. Harms. For more information, visit jrosspub.com/sea-turtle-health-and-rehabilitation.html.
