Be a marine biologist or sea turtle researcher this summer with Loggerhead Marinelife Center

For those wanting to make summer plans (and a lifetime of memories), Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s summer programs are the perfect go-to. Whether you have a budding scientist on your hands or want to give out-of-town guests an authentic Florida experience, there’s something for everyone during those not so lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

Junior Marine Biologist Summer Camp – children ages 6-17 can explore Florida’s coastal ecosystems through field trips, lessons and hands-on activities and learn about fun ways to protect our oceans. Sessions include Turtle Adventures, Sea Turtle Savers, Conservation Kids (6-10) and Field Experiences (14-17). Camps run Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, visit marinelife.org/camp.

Turtle Walks – gives guests the chance to safely observe sea turtles’ nesting process through an interactive presentation, a behind-the-gates tour of the Center and the opportunity to witness a loggerhead sea turtle lay her eggs on the beach.

  • When: Wednesday-Saturday evenings in June and July
  • Cost: $17/person; $12/person for LMC members

Hatchling Releases – provides guests with the chance to learn about sea turtles’ hatching process, including an exclusive tour to meet LMC’s sea turtle patients, an interactive presentation on South Florida’s sea turtles and a trip to the beach to watch LMC staff release hatchlings into the ocean.

  • When: Every evening in August
  • Cost: $17/person; $12/person for LMC members

Biologist Beach Walks – offers guests an in-depth look at LMC’s research department and the sea turtle nesting survey process, including the chance to witness a live nest excavation (with sea turtle eggs and hatchlings). Guests can also create their own take-home data sheet as a memento.

  • When: Wednesday-Sunday mornings in August and September
  • Cost: $12/person; $10/person for LMC members
