Loggerhead Marinelife Center's Unwrap the Wave Initiative allows for students and community members to get into the "spirit" of conservation by collecting their candy wrappers from Halloween and recycling them.

About Cane

Species:

Subadult Loggerhead (Caretta caretta) (CC25-1234)

Cane was rescued in 2017 with predation injuries, most likely from a shark. She was taken to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center for her rehabilitation where she would stay and call home in the mangrove tank, until 2023. A lot of her initial care was preventing infection and heavy debridement of her wounds. Cane was transferred to Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) in November 2024. We are holding her while maintenance is performed on her exhibit.
