Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) (CM24-68)
Flora is a juvenile green found in Jupiter near Pennock Point Road entangled in monofilament. Flora is very anemic. Flora received a blood transfusion on Monday. Blood transfusion was unsuccessful. Flora will need surgery to amputate the front right flipper. Current treatment is supportive care including fluids, antibiotics, and iron. Photo: Marisa Marulli

Flora’s breathing has been raspy. Dr. Barron performed an endoscope and discovered a large necrotic plug in the trachea. Attempts to dislodge the plug were unsuccessful. Flora began experiencing extreme respiratory distress. The decision to humanly euthanasia was made based on the respiratory distress and the rapid grow of her tumors.
