Lung was deflated. Boat strike injury was partially healed on intake. However, the coelomic lining was detached from the carapace allowing for mud and debris to collect and push on the lung. The wound vac helped pull the coelomic lining back into place. Currently there are zip ties on his carapace to minimize the movement of the fracture while the coelomic lining reattaches and heals. Treatment includes wound care and antibiotics.

Scout is an adult male loggerhead found by Inwater Research Group in Port St. Lucie with a boat strike wound to the carapace that had already partially healed on admission. Rather than reopen this wound and perform surgical closure, the wound was allowed to heal on its own and thus a scar is visible. This will not affect Scout, the satellite tag, or his ability to survive in the wild.
