Chewbacca is a juvenile green sea turtle patient that was found washed ashore near the Fort Pierce Inlet. Upon arrival, radiographs revealed a large amount of sand and debris in the turtle\'s esophagus and stomach. A gastroscopy was performed and several pieces of plastic were removed from the turtle\'s esophagus. Chewbacca was given some mineral oil to assist in the passing of the remaining sand and plastic in its gastrointestinal tract. The turtle will receive antibiotics and be monitored closely as the gastrointestinal issue is treated.
