Issue: Infection
Current Condition: Released.

ADMISSION NOTE:

Dory was found repeatedly crashing into a sea wall at Dubois Park in Jupiter late in the evening.  Bloodwork and radiographs have not shown any definitive diagnosis.  There is an old healed injury to the carapace that may have been caused by a boat strike.  The turtle is currently eating very well and enjoys a diet of squid, shrimp and capelin.  We will continue to monitor Dory closely with repeated bloodwork and observation as we determine the cause for stranding.

PROGRESS KEY:

This turtle is progressing well and responding to therapy as desired.

There is a minor issue that we are working to resolve.

PROGRESS NOTES:

02/08/2017 –Dory was released at Coral Cove Park on February 2nd.

01/25/2017 –

01/12/2017 –The turtle has completed treatment for coccidia and will be tested next week to determine how successful treatment was.

01/04/2017 –Undergoing treatment for coccidia.

12/09/2016 –The turtle was treated for fecal parasites, and we are now waiting for follow-up tests.

11/10/2016 –Dory has received a PIT tag and is now off all medications.

11/02/2016 –All of Dory’s medications have been discontinued. The turtle will be PIT tagged later today.

10/14/2016 –Dory’s white cell count has been variable, but is mostly near normal. The turtle is continuing on antibiotics.

9/01/2016 –Dory is improving and eating aggressively. There is evidence of infection as seen with an elevated white cell count. The turtle is on antibiotics.
