Issue: Chronic Debilitation
Earhart is a subadult loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found at FPL\'s St. Lucie site. The patient\'s bloodwork on arrival indicates anemia and hypoglycemia. Radiographs also revealed an intestinal impaction with a large amount of crab shells.Earhart is underweight and in poor health overall due to chronic debilitation. The turtle was put into freshwater to remove the barnacles, leeches, and other epibiota that covered its body. Earhart is receiving fluids and antibiotics, and will be closely monitored by hospital staff with routine bloodwork as its being treated.
PROGRESS KEY:
This turtle is progressing well and responding to therapy as desired.
There is a minor issue that we are working to resolve.

PROGRESS NOTES:
01/29/2020 - Earhart was released from Loggerhead Park in Juno Beach, FL!
01/16/2020 -Earhart's packed cell volume has returned to normal so it is likely to be ready for release in the very near future.
01/09/2020 -Earhart's packed cell volume has gone up, likely due to the iron injections.
01/02/2020 - Earhart's packed cell volume is not improving, so the turtle was started on iron injections.
12/26/2019 - Earhart\'s bone marrow response has slowed down, but the PCV is not yet up to normal.
12/19/2019 - Earhart's anemia is continuing to resolve.
12/12/2019 - No change.
12/05/2019 - Earhart's PCV is up to 27%, the goal is 30%
11/27/2019 -Earhart's PCV is up to 26%, the goal is 30%
11/21/2019 - Earhart seems to be stable off of medication. Just waiting for anemia to completely resolve.
11/14/2019 - Earhardt's white cell count is remaining normal.
11/07/2019 - Earhart has been taken off all medications and packed cell volume is up to 25% (target 30%)
10/31/2019 - Earhart is finishing parasite treatment this week.
10/24/2019 - Earhart has been tagged for eventual release.
10/17/2019 - Earhart has begun parasite treatment.
10/10/2019 - Earhart is responding well to treatment.
10/03/2019 - Earhart continues to improve.
09/26/2019 - Earhart continues to improve.
09/12/2019 - Earhart\'s bone marrow is now responding better and anemia is beginning to resolve.
