Gad is named in honor of Josh Gad the voice of Olaf in Disney’s Frozen and recent guest at Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

ADMISSION NOTE:

Gad is a sub-adult loggerhead that was found by the Inwater Research Group in St. Lucie County. The initial bloodwork showed slight anemia and overall poor health due to starvation (debilitation). Hospital staff administered fluids, antibiotics, and iron supplements. We will continue to monitor bloodwork closely as we treat Gad.

PROGRESS NOTES:

04/11/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Gad was released home on 4/10/18!

03/29/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) We are waiting for a little more improvement in the anemia to take Gad off all medications.

03/14/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Gad will be tagged later this week for potential release in the near future.

03/01/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Gad is progressing well. We are monitoring the turtle as the anemia improves.

02/23/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Gad’s anemia is resolved well enough that parasitic treatments have been started. The turtle is also off all antibiotics.

01/31/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(yellow) The bone marrow has not yet responded to treatment, but the turtle has a good appetite. Gad will continue treatment.
