James IV is a juvenile loggerhead sea turtle patient that was hooked by a recreational fisherman at the Juno Beach Pier. The hook in the mouth was removed upon arrival. The turtle also arrived with its carapace, plastron, and soft tissue densely covered in barnacles, which is an indication of debilitation. James IV also has wounds on its head from an unknown trauma. Hospital staff will closely monitor the turtle’s bloodwork as we treat with antibiotics.
This turtle is progressing well and responding to therapy as desired.
There is a minor issue that we are working to resolve.
