ADMISSION NOTE:

Jimmy D is a juvenile green sea turtle that was found in the St. Lucie Power Plant Intake Canal. The turtle has suffered shark bite injuries to the carapace, plastron, and shoulder region, as well as removed a majority of the left front flipper. Jimmy D’s wounds are being treated topically with beta-dine and a mixture of honey and silver-infused ointment and the turtle is receiving systemic antibiotics as well.

03/29/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Jimmy D’s white cell count is finally within normal limits and all antibiotics have been discontinued.

03/14/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) The new treatment regimen has helped bring the white cell count down. We will continue to monitor the turtle.

03/01/2018 – Sea_turtle_icon(green) Jimmy D’s white cell count continues to be slightly elevated. The turtle’s treatment plan was recently changed to a new antibiotic.
