Issue: Watercraft injury
We are excited to announce the arrival of Milo, a subadult loggerhead sea turtle. Milo stranded on February 11 at Humiston Beach Park in Vero Beach with skull fractures and a severely injured right front flipper, presumed to be from a boat strike.
After receiving initial care, which included the amputation of its right front flipper at the Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center, the turtle was transferred to LMC for continued care. With Milo's head trauma, the turtle's prognosis is guarded, but we are hopeful the turtle will make a full recovery.
A very special thank you to the team at the Sea Turtle Healing Center at Brevard Zoo for taking the best care of Milo prior to his arrival at the Sea Turtle Hospital at LMC.

PROGRESS NOTES:
03/02/2022 - Milo showed a significant decline in condition over the past week as a result of the traumatic injures. It was decided that humanely ending the turtle’s suffering was the best thing for it, so it was humanely euthanized this morning.
