Issue: Unintentional Boat Strike

Misty is an adult female green sea turtle patient that was found stranded on the beach on Jupiter Island. She has partially healed trauma on her carapace due to an unintentional boat strike. Misty will receive treatment and be closely monitored by hospital staff with routine diagnostics.

Her carapacial wounds continue to be challenging to treat and she is being staged for stem cell therapy among others to enhance healing of her spinal cord. We are continuing surgical debridements of her wounds to improve healing of these significant defects. Misty’s prognosis is good.

Misty was induced shortly after admission to the hospital, and her eggs were buried on the beach with the hope that they remain viable. Misty’s prognosis is good.
