Issue: Chronic debilitation
Nightingale is a large juvenile loggerhead, smaller than our average loggerhead turtle that came to us from FPL's St. Lucie site. It is affected with chronic debilitation and is consequently very anemic. The turtle was covered in barnacles and leeches and was placed in fresh water for about 24 hours and is now in sea water. The turtle is being placed onparenteral nutrition, to help speed its recovery, as well as antibiotics and fluids. Nightingale is named in honor of our frontline heroes and Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing.

Nightingale is in excellent condition, has been off of all medications for two weeks and is likely to be released in the relatively near future.

08/13/2020 -Nightingale's white blood cell count has normalized and the turtle is making good progress.
08/06/2020 -Nightingale's white blood cell count has increased so a new treatment protocol has been initiated.
07/30/2020 -Nightingale's packed cell volume is now up to 29%, and the turtle is making great progress.
07/23/2020 -Nightingale's packed cell volume is now up to 27%, and the turtle is making excellent progress.

07/09/2020 -Nightingale’s packed cell volume is now up to 24% and the turtle is making excellent progress.
07/02/2020 -Nightingale’s packed cell volume is now up to 21% and the turtle is making very good progress.

06/05/2020 -Nightingale is improving quickly and TPN has been discontinued. The turtle's bone marrow continues to respond appropriately and the turtle is making steady progress.
05/28/2020 -Nightingale is improving quickly and continues to receive daily TPN. The turtle's bone marrow has begun to respond appropriately and she is making steady progress.
05/22/2020 -Nightingale is improving quickly and TPN has been decreased from twice daily to once daily. The turtle's bone marrow has not yet begun to respond.
