Patrick is a juvenile green sea turtle patient that was found in the Intracoastal Waterway in Jupiter with a heavy epibiota load on its carapace and plastron. The turtle is underweight,lethargic, and in poor health overall due to being debilitated. Patrick also has wounds on its carapace, most likely from the heavy epibiota load, that will be treated topically and with therapeutic laser. We will monitor Patrick’s bloodwork closely as we treat with antibiotics.

Patrick has progressed nicely over the past month and our treatment plan for him has been adjusted accordingly. The lesions on his skin and carapace that we believe were associated with a past drug reaction are resolving as well. Patrick’s prognosis remains good.

12/01/2020 -Patrick’s treatment has been adjusted to reflect his recent inflammatory reaction that we believe was influenced by a medication. The turtle has since responded well to this new course of therapy and we are monitoring its progress closely. Patrick’s prognosis remains good.

12/26/2019 - Patrick's unusual white cells led us to check for parasites and we found a severe infestation of ciliates in the stool. Patrick is now receiving treatment for the parasites, which will take about two weeks.
