Issue: Chronic Debilitation

Sartore is a subadult male loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found at FPL’s St. Lucie site. The patient’s bloodwork on arrival indicates anemia and hypoglycemia, and radiographs revealed an intestinal impaction of crab shells. The turtle is underweight and in poor health overall due to chronic debilitation. Sartore is receiving fluids and antibiotics, and will be closely monitored by hospital staff with routine bloodwork as he is being treated. Sartore is named after 2020 Go Blue Awards keynote speaker, Joel Sartore.
