ADMISSION NOTE:
Sheilah is a juvenile green sea turtle that was found washed ashore south of the Lake Worth Inlet. Upon arrival, the turtle was lethargic and densely covered in large barnacles. Sheilah has a high white blood cell count indicating a systemic infection. The turtle is being treated with antibiotics. The white cell count is now slowly improving.
PROGRESS NOTES:
8/07/2016: Sheilah was released at Coral Cove Beach.
7/07/2016: Sheilah’s bloodwork appears to be normal. The turtle has been taken of all medications. The turtle will receive a PIT tag in the next few days.
6/08/2016: The bloodwork is showing a lot of abnormal cells. The treatment plan has been changed to eliminate the abnormal cells.
5/19/2016: The white cell count has been variable. Antibiotics have been adjusted and the bloodwork will be closely monitored.
4/28/2016: The white cell count continues to improve, and several external lesions are responding well to treatment.
