ADMISSION NOTE:
Sydney is a subadult loggerhead that was found in the St. Lucie Power Plant Intake Canal by Inwater Research Group biologists. The turtle was lethargic, debilitated, and hypoglycemic. Fluids and antibiotics were administered. The turtle was placed in shallow water at first, but now is doing well in a deeper tank.
PROGRESS NOTES:
11/9/2015 – Sydney was released from Loggerhead Park Beach on November 3rd.
10/26/2015 -Sydney was recently taken out of the tank and received a good overall exam. The turtle was taken off of the calcium supplement and will continue to be monitored.
10/8/2015 – Sydney has been taken off of all medication except for a calcium supplement to aid in hardening the carapace. The turtle may be ready for release in the near future.
9/7/2015 – Sydney has been moved to a much larger tank. The turtle was given prophylactic antiparasitic medications. This turtle is responding well to treatment.
