Olaf didn’t spend much time in the Atlantic before heading back into the Indian River. Olaf traveled as far north as Indian River Lagoon Preserve State Park on May 7th. In the last few days, Olaf has been in the Indian River on near the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.
Olaf left the St. Lucie River on April 24th and headed north in the Intracoastal along Hutchinson Island. Olaf then exited the Intracoastal through the Fort Pierce Inlet on April 27th which was a relief since the Intracoastal is a high boat traffic area. After exiting going through the inlet, Olaf has continued to swim north in the Atlantic and is currently located off of North Beach.
A boater spotted Olaf around 2pm the day the turtle was released! Olaf was seen on “Walkover Reef” off of Coral Cove Park in Tequesta in about 35 feet of water. Olaf then traveled further north, went into the Saint Lucie Inlet and is spending time in the St. Lucie River. Stay tuned to see where Olaf goes next!
