Issue: Unintentional Boat Strike, Buoyancy Issue
Zulu is a juvenile green sea turtle patient that was found floating in Fort Pierce Inlet State Park. The turtle has trauma to its cranial carapace from an unintentional boat strike that will be treated topically with betadine, honey, and therapeutic laser. Radiographs also revealed a large amount of gas in the turtle’s intestines. Zulu will receive fluids and antibiotics, and will be closely monitored by hospital staff as its wounds and the buoyancy disorder are treated.

12/01/2020 - Zulu has made excellent progress over the past month, is swimming, diving, surfacing and resting normally. Zulu’s appetite and behavior have also improved and the turtle is off all systemic medications. Zulu’s prognosis is excellent.
