Pitch the plastic

Wear blue
It might sound cheesy, but we promise you’ll feel better. Start off World Oceans Day 2016 right with a blue top, dress or jeans. Blue is considered a calming color, so it’ll help you relax as you take on the day with tons of fun blue activities, like picking up plastic or trash, taking a seaside selfie or visiting a local conservation organization like Loggerhead Marinelife Center!
Save water
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, each American uses an average of 100 gallons of water a day at home. That’s a lot of water! You can help conserve water at home in a few simple ways: turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth or when washing your hands or the dishes, wait to to do laundry until you can fill the machine with clothes, and reduce your shower time from (that action will save about 12 gallons for every five minutes you cut down!)
SWIM with LMC
Because World Oceans Day should obviously be every day, and what better way to celebrate than with a vacation? Seriously though, Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s new SWIM eco-tours is a vacation that gives back. Guests will assist conservation organizations in various efforts such as sea turtle monitoring and debris clean-up, as well as explore and enjoy diverse ecosystems through snorkeling, tours and more! This year’s destinations are located in Maui, Hawai’i, Padre Ramos, Nicaragua and Juno Beach, Florida.
