Candy Wrapper Recycling Program

Loggerhead Marinelife Center's Unwrap the Wave Initiative allows for students and community members to get into the "spirit" of conservation by collecting their candy wrappers from Halloween and recycling them. The purpose of this initiative is not only to ensure students and community members have a means to recycle their otherwise non-recyclable candy wrappers, but also to raise awareness of the large amount of single-use waste produced from a single holiday.

Fee: Price for participating in 2025 is $300, which covers the cost of the box and materials.

Deadlines for applications: If you would like your box by October 1st, the deadline for applications is September 19th. Additional applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until October 15th.

Families, teachers, and community members are welcome to collect and drop off at LMC or at a partner location'.
