Community Champions Ocean Conservation at Loggerhead’s 16th Annual Go Blue Awards

On Friday October 24, over 400 supporters of ocean conservation came together to celebrate Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s 16th Annual Go Blue Awards Luncheon, honoring both individuals and organizations committed to making extraordinary strides to protect our oceans and our planet.

The event kicked off with a PNC Bank-sponsored reception, featuring a seaside chat between LMC President and CEO Andy Dehart and Kerry Sanders, former NBC Senior National News Correspondent and recipient of the Eleanor Fletcher Lifetime Achievement Award.

The following day’s luncheon took place in West Palm Beach at the Kravis Center, the event acknowledged and applauded the dedicated efforts of environmental leaders whose work uplifts marine life, beaches, and coastal ecosystems. The luncheon was emceed by Ashley Glass, anchor for WPTV Channel 5, and was introduced by Michael Williams, who welcomed guests for an inspiring celebration of marine advocacy. Lynne and Pete Wells, founders of the Go Blue Awards and Blue Friends Society co-chairs, presenting this year’s award winners across the categories of: Blue Ambassador of the Year, Blue Hatchling Youth, and Blue Business/Nonprofit of the Year.

Honoring Our Ocean Leaders

Blue Ambassador of the Year – Dr. Denise Herzing

Founder of the Wild Dolphin Project, Dr. Herzing has dedicated her life to studying Atlantic spotted dolphins, offering groundbreaking insights into their behavior, communication, and social dynamics. Her research continues to deepen our understanding of these intelligent marine mammals and the habitats they rely on.

Blue Hatchling Youth Award – Isaac Nelson

At just eight years old, Isaac founded Eco Scouts, a nonprofit conservation club that brings children together for hands-on environmental work. From coral reef restoration and water testing to beach cleanups and sargassum studies, Isaac leads by example by proving that ocean stewardship can start at any age.

Blue Business/Nonprofit of the Year – WILDCOAST

Working across California and Mexico, WILDCOAST has safeguarded over 38 million acres of coastline, coral reefs, wetlands, mangroves, and gray whale lagoons. Their innovative approach blends conservation, advocacy, and community partnership to protect fragile coastal ecosystems at scale.

Event proceeds support Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s research, rehabilitation, and education programs, ensuring sea turtles and marine life thrive for generations.
