Karen Marcus
Karen Marcus is founder and president, Sustainable Palm Beach County. She served as Palm Beach County Commissioner from 1984 to 2012. During her tenure, she gained a reputation as a strong force for sustainable practices to ensure the county’s long-term success. Thanks to Marcus’s efforts, northern Palm Beach County residents, businesses, and visitors enjoy both a robust economy and a rich range of parks, green spaces, recreational areas and other quality-of-life assets. In 2012, the PBC Commissioners voted to name 154 county-owned acres east of Route 1 in Jupiter the Karen Marcus Ocean Park Preserve.
Marcus has served as President, Florida Association of County Commissioners and President, Florida Regional Planning Council Association. Marcus currently serves on the Boards of Jupiter Maltz Theater, Abacoa POA, Friends of MacArthur Park, the Everglades Law Center, and Roger Dean Stadium Advisory Board. She serves as Board Secretary and is on LMC’s Development, Research and Rehabilitation, Governance, and Buildings and Grounds Committees.
