Visit us during the months of June – September and experience youth, family and adult programming.
Guided Turtle Walks
A Turtle Walk is a unique program that allows our visitors to learn about, and observe, the nesting and egg-laying process of sea turtles. With the approval of State issued permits, experienced Loggerhead Marinelife Center scouts will patrol our designated section of Juno Beach searching for sea turtles while visitors enjoy an informative presentation on the plight of sea turtles and an after-hours experience to view our current patients in our outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital. Once a loggerhead sea turtle is found and begins her egg-laying process, the group is then led down to the beach to witness this unforgettable experience.
Cost: $18/nonmembers; $15 members
Time: Tuesdays - Saturdays at 9 p.m.
Biologist Beach Walks
The Biologist Beach Walk program is a unique opportunity for Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) educators to give the public insight into LMC’s research department. With permission from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a permitted staff member will lead guests down onto Juno or Tequesta beaches to discuss the nesting and hatching processes of sea turtles. After an introduction to these processes, guests may have the opportunity to witness a live excavation and create their own data sheets to take home as a memento.
Cost: $15/nonmembers; $12/members
Time: Wednesdays - Sundays at 7 a.m.
Jr. Research Lab
Children come to the aid of sea turtle hatchlings as junior researchers learn about the nesting process and hatchling care at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in this 30 minute program. Children will perform a mock excavation and learn about why long term data collection is important to sea turtle conservation and will release their hatchlings out to sea. Program limited to 10 children. Register at desired date on our calendar
Times: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays at 3:30 p.m.; Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m.
The Hatchling Release program at Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a unique experience that allows our visitors to learn about sea turtles and the nesting and hatching process. The program begins with an after-hours experience to view our current patients in our outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital, followed by a presentation and ends with a trip to the beach to see LMC staff release sea turtle hatchlings into the ocean.
Cost: $18/nonmembers; $15/members
Time: Daily in August at 8 p.m.
Join us in one of our Hatchling Feeding programs where guests are able to prepare the food for our hatchlings and assist the rehabilitation team with data collection of the hatchlings in our care. The program starts with a presentation about sea turtles and the hatchling journey, followed by preparation of hatchling before feeding time. You will have the opportunity to observe the hatchlings feeding and foraging behavior and record data on who is eating and how much.
