LMC Offers Virtual Learning Experiences For Supporters
Dear Friend of Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC),
At LMC, we strive to be industry leaders in sea turtle and ocean conservation. Our work is focused on four pillars, each focused on demonstrating measurable impact: Conservation, Education, Rehabilitation, and Research. Through these core areas, we are able to provide you with resources to dive into the depths of ocean conservation and stay informed whether you are on or off of our campus.
Although our campus is physically closed to the public, our Center believes we should always strive to provide unrestricted education and access to our mission to all guests. In light of our campus closure, we are moving a few of our programs online. These virtual programs will help keep our next generation of eco-advocates and eager minds focused and engaged with sea turtle and ocean conservation. During this unprecedented time, our educators are working around the clock to bring you and your family exceptional virtual learning modules and enhance our Educator Portal to help you make the most of your time at home with your loved ones.
Virtual Coastal Classroom (Sea Turtle and Ocean Education) Launch Date: Wednesday March 18th
Beginning on Wednesday, March 18 through our campus closure, our education team invites curious ocean explorers to join them for our Virtual Coastal Classroom programming. Through FaceBook Live at 2 p.m. EST each day, our education team will conduct daily, 15-20 minute virtual learning lessons focused on various sea turtle and ocean conservation topics. These virtual learning modules will leverage our innovative sea turtle hospital and engage viewers with our sea turtle patients. To accompany the live virtual lessons, our education team has designed a Virtual Coastal Classroom online resource website, activity sheets, and interactive quizzes will join our virtual modules to encourage viewers to “build upon” their knowledge and learn at home. *Please note our educators are working in very small groups (in pairs of two), often outdoors and deploying best practices for sanitation and health.

Sea Turtle and Ocean Conservation Trivia: Evenings with LMC
While many of our guests and supporters are at home and looking for engaging activities, our team looks forward to bringing you nightly trivia questions with a prize giveaway through our social media outlets (Facebook and Instagram). Each night at 9 p.m. EST, we invite you to play along and test your sea turtle ocean and conservation knowledge. *Increased precautions will be used to ship participants their prizes.
Our Center is Closed To The Public, However Our Work Never Stops
From dawn to dusk, from land to sea, from rescue to release, our work never stops. Though our Center is closed to the public, our Center must continue to operate to:
- Provide our patients with critical care
- Protect and monitor sea turtle nests on one of the world’s most densely nested sea turtle nesting beaches
- Deploy innovative and engaging virtual education programs for the world to enjoy
During this time, our Center will still admit new sick, injured or stranded patients and protect our 9.5-mile stretch of beach for nesting and hatching turtles; saving an endangered species is 24/7, 365 days a year. As a donation based Center with free admission, we rely on generous supporters like you to sustain our conservation efforts.
From food and medical supplies for our patients to our ATVs and equipment needed to protect sea turtle nests on our beach, our conservation and education efforts depend on your support.
Our campus is closed to the public and your support of our mission has never been more critical. Each and every day, we remain committed to offering the best of care to our patients and innovative education for our students and our guests.
