Field Trips

Loggerhead Marinelife Center welcomes students to dive into marine science and conservation through our grade-specific field trip experiences!

Grades K-5

We now offer two field trip experiences; Ocean Exploration and Save our Seas.

The Ocean Exploration field trip allows students to visit Loggerhead Marinelife Center for a one-hour program all about sea turtle biology and rehabilitation at our Sea Turtle Hospital. Each Ocean Exploration field trip program is comprised of three components including an interactive classroom lesson on sea turtle
biology, an exploratory tour of our Exhibit Hall, and a visit behind-the-gates of our outdoor sea turtle hospital to meet our current patients.

The Save Our Seas field trip welcomes students to Loggerhead Marinelife Center for a one-hour program to learn about marine conservation and what they can do to help the future of our ocean! Each Save Our Seas field trip program consists of three stations including an interactive classroom lesson, a hands-on conservation activity, and a visit to meet our current patients on a behind-the-gates tour of our outdoor sea turtle hospital.

Lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for grades K-5.

Cost: $6.00/student, $60 minimum
Capacity: Max 20 students & 6 chaperones
Two sessions available each day to accommodate up to 40 students.
Title One grant funding is available for qualifying schools.

Pier Field Trip

Virtual Field Trips

Virtual Field Trips take students on a behind-the-scenes experience of the Sea Turtle Hospital at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Students will tune in to lessons on sea turtle biology, ocean threats, and rehabilitation efforts of our current patients at LMC. This interactive experience allows the opportunity for classrooms to ask questions in real-time to a biologist on the other end. *New* We now offer a Virtual Ask a Biologist for grades 6-12 and college level virtual campus visits. Lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for grades K-12.

American Sign Language and Spanish Virtual Field Trips are available upon request.

Cost: $75.00 (Title 1 funding is available)
Capacity: Max 30 students
Times: Monday through Friday at 9:30 AM, 1:00 PM,
and 3:00 PM (Eastern Time)


Campus Visits

Campus visits can be arranged seven days a week for college classes or extracurricular groups looking to take a closer look at our operation. During this one-hour program, students will gain an insight into the biology and current conservation efforts of marine turtles, take a behind-the-scenes tour into our sea turtle rehabilitation area and have an opportunity to speak with an LMC staff member about their experiences.

Capacity: Max 15 students & 6 chaperones
Campus visits may be available to multiple groups based on availability.

College & University Guest Lectures

Guest Lectures from LMC staff are available for college and university classrooms, lecture halls and extracurricular meetings year-round. We are always happy to customize marine-science related topics and leave plenty of time at the end of the lecture for student questions. Please note, we cannot bring any live turtles to any off-site programs.

Cost: Free. Dependent on LMC staff availability.
Capacity: Max 60 students.
