Field Trips, Outreach & Lectures
NEW field trip explorations for our expanded campus as of February 1st, 2022!
Loggerhead Marinelife Center welcomes students to dive into marine science and conservation through our grade-specific field trip experiences!
The Turtle Tots (Grades K-2) field trip allows for early learners to jump into the world of veterinary science alongside our dear friend, Dr. Logger!
Students will discuss basic defining characteristics of sea turtles and the key role that this animal plays in our oceans. Students will participate in a “rescue to release” simulation with their very own model sea turtle to learn about our treatment techniques and record keeping.
*Please note, field trips are 1-hour educator-led lessons held in a classroom or laboratory setting. All lessons are aligned to Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. Exploration of our expanded campus including the BRAND NEW indoor One Ocean Hall, outdoor Ecosystem Tanks, and the Outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital are self-guided extensions of our field trip programs. Please plan your trip accordingly to account for extra exploration time!
Cost: $10.00/student, $120 minimum. Title One grant funding is available for qualifying schools; *please email email@example.com for more information on opportunities for Title 1 schools.*
Capacity: Max 60 students. Two sessions available each day to accommodate up to 120 students.
New Times: 10 AM and 11AM Monday - Friday
In-School Outreach Program
Our newly redesigned school outreach program brings The Sea Turtle Hospital at LMC to your classroom! All materials and instruction provided by LMC staff.
Cost: $125 (Title One Funding Available)
Capacity: Max 30 students
For Summer 2022 bookings, please note that school outreaches are only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Virtual Field Trips
Virtual Field Trips take students on a behind-the-scenes experience of the Sea Turtle Hospital at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Students will tune in to lessons on sea turtle biology, ocean threats, and rehabilitation efforts of our current patients at LMC. This interactive experience allows the opportunity for classrooms to ask questions in real-time to a biologist on the other end. *New* We now offer a Virtual Ask a Biologist for grades 6-12 and college level virtual campus visits. Lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for grades K-12.
American Sign Language and Spanish Virtual Field Trips are available upon request.
Cost: $75.00 (Title 1 funding is available)
