Loggerhead Marinelife Center now offers workshops exclusively for homeschool students! This workshop series features hands-on activites and focuses on various marine science topics, including marine biology, coastal ecology, veterinary science, fisheries, oceanography, and ocean conservation.
Ages: 6-9 and 10-13.
Cost: $10/student for the 1.5 hour program; one free chaperone per family is required (and must stay on campus for the duration of the program), but any additional chaperones will need to register as participants.
Spring 2020 Schedule
Field Experiences - Biodiversity
Students will learn the basics of biodiversity field collection techniques by working with LMC biologists in the local coastal environment.
Students will learn about the physical and chemical elements of the world ocean, while learning how to test water quality in their local environment.
Students will learn about the threats of exotic and invasive species in coastal Florida by identifying species, conducting a removal project and watching our resident lionfish in action.
Students will learn about best angling practices for marine life and enjoy a lesson on fishing basics before casting their own line at Juno Beach Pier.
Students will learn all about the Florida Manatee through an interactive Manatee Rescue lesson from our guest instructors from Manatee Lagoon!
Private Homeschool Workshops
Loggerhead Marinelife Center now offers private workshops exclusively for homeschool groups! These workshops are for students ages 6-13. Cost is $10/student for the 1.5 hour program, with a minimum of 10 students, or $100. One free chaperone per family is required (and must stay on campus for the duration of the program), but any additional chaperones will need to register as participants. Private Homeschool Workshops are designed to accommodate larger homeschool groups of up to 40 people.
