Homeschool Workshop Series
Step into the shoes of a Marine Biologist through Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s homeschool workshop series exclusively for homeschool students! Students will be immersed in marine science through hands-on lessons in the field (site locations vary depending on the workshop). Lesson topics feature coastal ecology, veterinary science, ocean conservation, and sea turtle biology.
Includes: 1.5 hour field lesson and activities led by staff biologist.
Ages: 6-9 and 10-13.

Sea Turtles 101
Students will become Junior Veterinarians for the day where they will learn all about the sea turtles of South Florida, including sea turtle biology, ecology & rehabilitation. Program includes a lesson in our Outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital at LMC to learn about our current patients receiving care.
Explore the mangrove ecosystem by kayak! Students will be led on a naturalist excursion of the mangrove ecosystem by kayaking through the habitat to learn about the importance of the mangrove ecosystem and what animals depend on this habitat for survival. Tandem kayaks for student use provided by LMC.
Students will learn how to be responsible anglers for our oceans through a conservation lesson about best angling practices and fishing basics. Students will get to practice being responsible anglers by using their knowledge while casting their own lines at the Juno Beach Pier. Fishing rods and gear for students provided by LMC.
Grab your lab coats and become a Junior Sea Turtle Biologists for the day! Student will learn all about sea turtle nesting and how our research team studies sea turtle nesting on our local beach. Sea Turtle Research is a “dirty” job so prepare to get sandy as some activities will be conducted on the beach.
Private Homeschool Workshops
Loggerhead Marinelife Center now offers private workshops exclusively for homeschool groups! Book an in-person (15 student maximum) workshop for your homeschool group today!
These workshops are for students ages 6-13. Cost is $12/student for the 1.5 hour program, with a minimum of 10 students, or $120. One free chaperone per family is required (and must stay on campus for the duration of the program), but any additional chaperones will need to register as participants. At this time, Private Homeschool Workshops are limited to a maximum of 15 students.
